Risala Dinner

Risala translated in simple English would be a cavalry contingent. It was used both in the context of mounted horse and camel troops. Back in olden times, the mode of transport was horses and camels, and it was the only source of transport to cover long distances. show more

These campaigns would entail riding 1000-1500 kms. When the Risala or cavalry contingent would camp for the night it would be time for good music, drinks and barbecue meals The entire theme is replicated for the pleasure of our guests at the stables of Roop Niwas Kothi. A escort party consisting of drummers, guards, torch bearers would be sent to bring the guests to the Risala camp. Colourful handmade safas and scarves are presented to the guests and they wear them for this party. All inclusive experience from dancing horse to folk music, followed by Rajasthani delicacies and barbecue and drinks.

The walk commences from the paddocks at Roop Niwas Kothi where you meet the magnificent Marwari horses.
The Roop Niwas stables are home to over 50 beautiful horses of this indigenous
Rajasthani breed.

En route, you will walk through home farms, meet the farming folk of Nawalgarh and discover the age-old techniques they employ in cultivating their crops in this semi-arid region of Rajasthan.

You will also get the chance to interact with a family of potters and try your hand at spinning the potter’s wheel in pursuit of your very first original piece of art, crafted from the mud of this beautiful land.

You might even get lucky and catch a glimpse of the native bird life of this region!

Your walk will culminate with Hi Tea or Breakfast at the farm, and an interaction with the Shoal family who have been tilling the hotel’s farm for decades.

So, take a walk and catch a rare glimpse of the ever-evolving yet firmly traditional Indian farming family.
